What are the advantages of building steel frames?

Steel Building Kits

1. High material strength and light weight

Steel has high strength and elastic modulus. Compared with concrete and wood, the ratio of density to yield strength is relatively low. Therefore, under the same stress conditions, the members of the building steel structure are small in section, light in self weight, convenient for transportation and installation, and suitable for structures with large span, high height, and heavy load.

2. Steel has good toughness, plasticity, uniform material and high structural reliability

It is suitable for bearing impact and dynamic load, and has good seismic performance. The internal structure of the steel is uniform, close to isotropic homogeneous body. The actual working performance of the building steel structure conforms to the calculation theory, so the reliability of the steel frames is high.

3. High degree of mechanization of steel frames manufacturing and installation

The steel frames is easy to be manufactured in the factory and assembled on the construction site. The factory mechanized manufacturing of steel structure components has high precision, high production efficiency, fast assembly speed on site, and short construction period. Steel structure is the most industrialized structure.

4. Good sealing performance of steel structure

Because the welded structure can be completely sealed, it can be made into high pressure vessels, large oil pools, pressure pipes, etc. with good air tightness and water tightness.

5. Steel frames is heat resistant and not fire resistant

When the temperature is below 150 ℃, the properties of steel change little. Therefore, the steel structure is suitable for the hot workshop, but when the structure surface is exposed to the thermal radiation of about 150 ℃, it should be protected by the heat insulation plate. The strength and elastic modulus of the steel decreased significantly at 300 ℃ – 400 ℃. The strength of steel tends to zero when the temperature is about 600 ℃. In buildings with special fire protection requirements, steel frames must be protected with refractory materials to improve the fire resistance rating.
